Resistance is directly proportional to the viscosity of blood and length of the vessel, and it is inversely proportional to the 4th power of the radius. It means when the radius of artery decreases by ½ (50%), resistance will increase by 16 times (½* ½ * ½ * ½) and when the radius of artery increases by ½ (50%), resistance will decrease by 16 times.
